Importance of PH
A high PH can stress certain types of fish causing disease or death.
Ammonia becomes increasingly toxic as the pH rises above 7.0. Keeping an aquariums ph just below 7.0 helps insure the heath of most community fish.
Tip:
Some water contain more minerals, carbonate and bicarbonate salts than others. This buffers water against ph change or causes ph to rebound back up. Re-dosing may be necessary in these cases. Shells and coral skeletons are not for aquariums where a ph of below 7 is wanted. These are made of calcium carbonate and will raise ph back up above 7 as long as they remain in the tank water.
Directions: (Test PH before using)
Aquariums : Add half capful (2.5ml) per 25 gallons per day to lower PH until desired PH is achieved.
Ponds: Add 2 capful(10ml) per hundred gallons per day to lower PH until desired PH is achieved.
Note:
Test PH Frequently!, More or less ALKALINITY DOWN may be needed to maintain a PH levels. Do not make sudden changes to water chemistry, sudden changes in water chemistry may result in fish loss. Never lower ph more than .2 per day.
